We have a special procedure for adapting the child to the social and physical environment in our kindergarten. During the period of adaptation to the new environment, teachers, other children and the rhythm of the day, the professional team of Kreativno pero provides support to both the child and the parents/guardians.
In the first week of adaptation, the parent stays in a group with their child, other children and teachers, with support from the school pedagogue. During this time, the parent and child spend about two hours at the kindergarten.
In the second week of adaptation, the parent or a close adult stays with the child in the kindergarten, but gradually moves away from the room, ensuring that the child understands the message that the parent is still nearby and the child can reach the room where the parent is at any time. At the end of the week, the parent receives a report via email on the child's adaptation, favorite activities, interactions with peers, meals, exploration of the space and the child's overall well-being.
The third week represents the first period of complete separation and the child is separated from the parent or a close adult at the beginning of the day. It is very important that during the first week of the child's independent stay, a parent or a close adult is near the kindergarten so that we can react quickly if the child starts crying or complaining. Also, it is important to know that a child can be expected to cry, and that long-term practice shows that a child's cry does not mean that they feel bad about being in kindergarten and with teachers. At the end of this week, parents receive a report on adaptation.
The fourth week of adaptation works in a similar way to the previous one. At the end of this week, parents receive another report on adaptation.
Throughout the entire process of adaptation, the cooperation of parents or close adults with pedagogues, teachers and other staff members is very important and is in the best interest of the child. It is recommended that at the beginning of the adaptation period, parents or close adults agree on who will bring the child to kindergarten. Since the children do not attend kindergarten during the weekend, it is important for the parent to talk to the child and remind them of the kindergarten, teachers and interaction with peers so that the child feels comfortable with going to kindergarten again. This way it will become a part of the daily routine.
