In our kindergarten, every day we implement one additional programme and two extracurricular activities.
Storytelling
Research studies have shown that children who participate in drama workshops achieve better results and establish better social contacts. The Storytelling activity is designed as a drama workshop where children practice concentration, memory, correct pronunciation and diction. It is designed as a special form of support for encouraging creativity, imagination and innovation. With various drama methods, children gradually overcome stage fright, develop communication skills and nurture love for dramatic arts.
Art corner & Artists hub
Young children are great artists, and during the Art corner and Artists hub activities, they have the opportunity to discover the works of famous artists from medieval to modern art. Understanding artistic styles and analysing artworks is very important for supporting creativity and imagination. By painting on large canvases, children create reproductions of famous works of art and develop their imagination. In this way they are sent the message that every child is an artist. By discovering different painting techniques - graphite, charcoal, watercolor, tempera, graphics, clay and other techniques - children develop their creative potential and encourage their creative expression.
Crafty Corner
Every person has an innate potential for creativity, and by encouraging this important ability, children have the opportunity to better understand their capabilities, to create a positive self-image, to express themselves and affirm their personalities. It is essential to offer children activities that contribute to the development of creative personality traits. The goal of this activity is to encourage children’s creativity, develop perceptive and intellectual functions and practice the development of fine and gross motor skills by designing jewelry, various decorations and ornaments.
With Kids Around the World
Kids Around the World activity is an interesting way to encourage children, in cooperation with teachers and other associates, to think about interculturalism, develop tolerance and respect for all people. The goal of this extracurricular activity is to develop respect and love for our planet and to support the development of a cosmopolitan spirit. In this activity, children gain additional knowledge about different cultures, countries and customs around our planet.
Dance Adventure
Our kindergarten becomes a dance party during a certain period of the day. Then, the youngest children, with the support of a professional dancer, learn the steps of various dances such as rumba, twist, disco, cha-cha, lambada, polka, cowboy polka, duck walk and many others, all while developing movement coordination and musical skills.
Music hub
Attending the Music hub is an excellent opportunity for a child to express their experiences and perception of the world around them through sound and rhythm. Music is one of the primary forms of expression for children of all ages, and numerous studies have shown that participation in musical activities encourages speech development, social and emotional growth, as well as expansion of vocabulary. At the Music hub children enjoy singing, playing instruments, exploring the diversity of the world of music and learning about different ways to express emotions.
MindUp
Considering that the MindUp programme teaches children about how our brain, our emotions and our behavior are connected, the idea is to organize an Olympiad in MindUp games and activities. We wish children to learn, through play, how to recognize and accept their emotions and then consciously choose how to respond to them. The games are thematically designed and connected to other daily activities in the kindergarten. With these games, children will have the opportunity, relying primarily on their feelings and senses and through movement and motor skills, to express acquired and develop new knowledge and skills in speech development, basic mathematical concepts, musical culture and visual arts,
STEAM
STEAM integrates science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics, combining these disciplines through thematic tasks and experiments suitable for preschool children. The emphasis will be on nurturing the development of algorithmic and divergent thinking, but also on encouraging the development of digital competencies in kindergarten children preparing them for the safe and correct use of digital devices for learning, communication and collaboration.
Secret library
The main idea of this activity is to introduce children to the gems of Serbian and world literature through play-based activities and drama plays, sparking their desire to read and listen to stories and poems.
Additional Programmes
Children who participate in extracurricular activities alongside their lessons, eventually learn to manage their time in a constructive way, to overcome the fear of failure, and gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their abilities, achieving success in different areas.
Participating in extracurricular activities fosters both academic and life skills, including successful communication and cooperation. In addition, extracurricular activities encourage children to set goals and work as a team, while continually developing responsibility. In team sports they gradually learn to be part of a group, and improve their writing and speaking skills.
Additional Programmes in the Kindergarten
From an early age children develop practical life skills through the Practical Life Skills programme.
Sports
Sports activities are of great importance for the proper and healthy development of a child. Since physical activity is the best way to preserve health and develop various social, psychological, intellectual and graphomotor skills, children in our kindergarten are encouraged to incorporate sports activities as an integral part of everyday life from the earliest age.
The sports programme in the kindergarten is led by physical education teachers and professional instructors trained to work with young children. The programme is carried out in the kindergarten’s yard, on the field and in the Sports Center Majdan. During the summer months, children have tennis lessons with a tennis coach as well as swimming lessons, led by licensed teachers and recreational trainers.
Science
Science is taught entirely in English and this programme encourages curiosity and the development of critical thinking through the study of various topics such as: Me and my body, My senses, Living and non-living world, Natural Phenomena. Children will be trained and encouraged to use scientific knowledge and methodology to explain the natural world.
Music club
This programme allows children to expand their experience and understanding of music. Children will explore music, performers, composers and an informed audience. They will compose and understand music by discovering and finding it in different cultures, times and places. It will also help children nurture the joy of music and develop self-confidence and leadership and collaboration skills.
Language art
Encouraging the development of bilingualism and acquiring the English language through play is the foundation of this programme. With an English teacher, children listen, analyze and retell stories and events from real-life context. In addition, they enrich their vocabulary through illustrations and various interactive content.
