ES “Kreativno pero” became part of the Cambridge International Examinations system in January 2012. The Cambridge programme was implemented in the school year 2012/2013. Since then, the curricula of English, Maths and Science (the World Around Us, Nature and Society, Biology, Physics and Chemistry) have been executed in the same way as in 9000 other schools worldwide that make up the Cambridge International Examinations network.

However, unlike similar schools in the immediate and wider surroundings, in which the students and their parents decide on one of two options - the programme of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Serbia or the Cambridge Programme - we stand out in our effort to integrate the two. This way, our students can obtain two primary school diplomas, which gives them the broadest possible options for further education.

Merging the curricula of the Serbian Ministry of Education and the Cambridge Programme so as to fulfil the specific requirements of each of them without overburdening the students was a particular challenge. This is why the Cambridge curriculum in our school is realised as through extracurricular classes, whose implementation has increased the quality of teaching as a whole.
The most significant advantages of the Cambridge system compared to the Serbian one are:

  • Paying special attention to objectives in all phases of the teaching process;
  • Including students into the formulation of objectives and success criteria;
  • Highly developed system of monitoring and evaluating teaching results;
  • Exceptionally developed and implemented idea of individualisation in teaching based on previous student evaluations.

The school has all the resources required for the execution of this programme. All teachers are well-acquainted with the system, having completed online courses Introduction to Cambridge Primary and Cambridge Secondary 1 and passed the corresponding tests.
Maths, Biology, Physics and Chemistry are taught in the senior grades in a similar manner. Regular classes are held in order to meet the curriculum criteria prescribed by the Serbian Ministry of Education, while the Cambridge curriculum is implemented through activities within the bilingual teaching project, thematic interconnection of similar subjects and the use of materials and other resources made available by the Cambridge curriculum. Furthermore, students have two extracurricular classes during the week (Science) taught by a certified teacher. This ensures that all content and standards envisioned by the Cambridge programme are met.
